우리에게 'Feel So Good', 'Children of Sanchez' 등으로 친숙한 Chuck Mangione은 아마도 가장 대중적인 '프루겔 혼' 주자라고 할 수 있다.
뿐만 아니라 피아노, 트럼펫, 퍼커션을 다룰 줄 알며, 작/편곡에 있어서도 뛰어난 역량을 발휘하며 40년 이상을 솔로로서만 고집해왔다.
1940년 11월 29일 뉴욕에서 태어난 Chuck Mangione은 재즈 매니아인 아버지 덕분에 형 Gap Mangione과 함께 여러 재즈 공연들을 다녔다고 한다.
특히 그의 아버지는 Dizzy Gillespie와 상당한 친분이 있었는데, Chuck Mangione이 뉴욕의 Eastman 음악학교를 다니는 동안 피아노를 연주하던 Gap Mangione과 함께 'Jazz Brothers'라는 테너 색서폰 주자 Sal Nistico를 맞아들여 5인조 퀸텟 구성으로 여러 장의 앨범 녹음에 참여하기도 했다. (출처: Changgo.com)
