1963년 펜실베니아 Glen Willard에서 태어난 그는 고등학생때 장학금을 받으며 공부를 했으며 음악과 보컬 테크닉 공부를 했고 후에 그룹 Classics에 들어간다.

1959년에서 62년 사이에 피츠버그 지역의 다양한 밴드와 일을 해본 그는 몇 개의 작은 지방 레이블에서 낸 일련의 음반들을 접어두고 무대명을 Lou Christie로 바꾼다.

국내에서는 Beyond The Blue Horizon, Saddle The Wind등 주로 국내 드라마에 삽입되었거나 감성을 자극하는 멜로디에 귀기울인 세대들에의해 그의 존재가치를 알아차릴뿐 정작 그의 다른노래에는 관심도 없다.

하지만 아련한 기차 소리와 독백처럼 홀러가는 목소리를 받쳐 주는 단순한 기타 반주, 여운처럼 Fade out되는 기차 소리, 지난날의 향수를 자극하는 요소를 두루 갖춘 곡으로 국내에서의 그의 노래는 독보적이다.
